Milled Furniture
Designed for 5-axis cnc milling from solid timber the Milled piece aims to develop a language of new timber construction whilst respecting the qualities and limitations of the medium.
As the same timber is cut across in different planes the variation in colour, grain and rays is accentuated.
Designed for primary machining from a single side, the inner surfaces are the most complex, being emphasised in the shade and light of the transitions. Whilst the outer and upper reflect plain geometric faces. An acknowledgement of the manual crafts person is given in the assembly and post finishing.
Strength is given by the muscular solid knuckle which forms the junction between leg and top. The top is hollowed beneath with rails formed at the sides.
